Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met on Monday with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, at Sheikh Zayed Palace in Rahim Yar Khan. The meeting took place in the presence of senior Pakistani officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The talks built on discussions held during the UAE President’s recent official visit to Islamabad, where the two leaders reviewed the direction of bilateral relations. Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s intention to elevate its longstanding ties with the UAE into a strategic economic partnership based on mutual benefit.

Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in key sectors, including trade, information technology, energy, mining and minerals, as well as defense cooperation. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of significantly increasing bilateral trade to reflect the strong political relationship between the two countries.

Prime Minister Sharif also praised the UAE’s development under Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s leadership and expressed appreciation for the UAE’s continued support for Pakistan. He acknowledged the role of the Pakistani community in the UAE, noting that more than two million Pakistanis contribute to strengthening ties between the two nations.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on regional and international matters, capping a year marked by sustained high-level engagement between Pakistan and the UAE.
