The United Nations has reported that more than 200,000 people have fled Lebanon for Syria due to the ongoing escalation between Israel and Hezbollah.
The large-scale displacement was triggered by the intensifying Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple sites in Lebanon, marking a mass exodus not seen in the country for decades.
In addition to the displaced Lebanese, a significant number of Syrian refugees, who had originally sought safety in Lebanon during the Syrian civil war, are now also fleeing back to Syria.
According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Lebanon has been hosting approximately 1.5 million Syrian refugees.
These refugees have been living under dire conditions, facing poverty, inadequate healthcare, and limited access to education and basic services.
The Lebanese authorities recently revealed that over a million Lebanese citizens have been forced to leave their homes due to the Israeli attacks, a figure that is expected to rise as the conflict continues.
