More than 200 staff members of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The agency confirmed that, as of July 30, 202 employees have been killed since the conflict began on October 7.

This tragic toll underscores the severe impact of the ongoing violence on humanitarian workers in the region.

UNRWA, established in 1949, provides essential services such as education, healthcare, and social services to Palestinian refugees.

The agency operates in five fields: Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip.

The Gaza conflict has intensified in recent months, leading to widespread devastation and a significant loss of life.

The ongoing hostilities have not only claimed the lives of civilians but also put humanitarian efforts at risk. UNRWA's operations are critical for the daily survival of many Palestinians in Gaza, a region that has been under blockade for over a decade.

The loss of staff members severely hampers the agency's ability to deliver aid and support to those in need.

The conflict has drawn international attention and condemnation, with calls for ceasefires and peace negotiations.

However, the violence persists, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation. UNRWA continues to appeal for protection and support for its staff and the vulnerable populations they serve.
