The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that more than 100 Syrians have fallen victim to the destructive floods that hit areas in eastern Libya, with over 150 others still missing.

The Syrian Observatory clarified that its statistics confirm the deaths of 42 Syrian citizens in the floods, and their names have been documented.

Earlier, the Libyan Red Crescent had announced a staggering toll of flood victims in the city of Derna, Libya, where the number of deaths exceeded 11,000 people, while about 20,000 people are still missing.

Furthermore, the Libyan Red Crescent reported that the recent floods in Derna resulted in the transfer of explosive remnants of war from their previous locations to areas throughout the flooded regions.

They emphasized that Derna is a city polluted with explosive remnants of war, making it crucial for citizens and rescue workers to be aware of this danger to minimize further loss of life.

The statement concluded by advising people not to attempt to move any objects they find but rather to mark the area to warn others and to contact the authorities.
