Ahead of holding the G20 Osaka summit on 28th of June, Awaji Island in Japan hosts today a global forum under the title of “Sustainable Development Goals and Food”.
The forum’s events are supposed to last till 27th of June.
It aims at promoting the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) that the UN is looking forward to achieve by 2030.
So many constructive discussions related to food, the most essential need of humans, will be conducted.
The event will focus on all food challenges like the introduction of composite materials and the reduction of grain prices which causes great harm to farmers as well as normal people.
In the same context, the conference will discuss the food waste issue besides all diseases related to food and health risks which affect 40% of people world-wide.
As Awaji Island, that dates back to 1300 years, is known as kingdom of royal food in Japan, a cooking contest will be held at the end of the forum to show skills of the most professional chefs from G20 members states.
After that, the International Exhibition Center in Osaka city will host 2019 G20 Osaka summit on 28 and 29 of June.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that the summit will help in achieving UN goals.
It’s notable that the United Nations has set 17 main sustainable development goals beside other 169 sub-goals to be achieved in 10 years starting now.
