A recent poll has shown that over 70% of Britons support strengthening ties with the European Union, with around one-third (31%) favoring rejoining the EU.
This sentiment echoes European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's belief that Britain's exit from the EU was a mistake and should be rectified by the new generation.
The survey, conducted by YouGov, indicates that 31% of participants support the idea of rejoining the EU, while another 11% favor returning to the single market without EU membership.
Moreover, 30% of respondents advocate for enhanced trade relations without joining the single market.
Thus, 72% of Britons hold a positive attitude towards closer ties with the EU, with 52% believing that the decision to leave was a mistake.
Meanwhile, another 10% of survey participants think that UK-EU relations should remain unchanged, and 9% favor weakening these ties.
The survey was conducted from November 24 to 26, involving 2,138 British participants. In a referendum held in June 2016, 52% of Britons voted in favor of leaving the EU.
On January 31, 2020, Britain officially left the EU after 47 years of membership
