A soldier died and another was injured in a military helicopter crash in southern Tunisia on Friday, according to a security source.
The source in Gafsa Province told the German News Agency (dpa) that the helicopter crash occurred near the military air base this morning during a landing maneuver.
The Ministry of Defense indicated in a statement later that medical teams intervened immediately on the spot to evacuate the two pilots and transfer them to the regional hospital.
It confirmed the death of one member, the injury of the second, and his condition was stable.
Tunisia has witnessed frequent incidents of military aircraft crashing in recent years, the last of which was in June a year ago when a helicopter crashed on the coast of Bizerte in the north of the country on a night reconnaissance mission, leading to the death of four soldiers on board.
