President Abdel Fattah El Sisi delivered a speech Friday at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris where he took part in the organization's celebration marking the 75th anniversary of its founding, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
"Sisi affirms in his speech at UNESCO that Egypt is proud of being among the founding countries of UNESCO," said Rady.
Sisi added that Egypt has developed its relations with the organization over decades to become a model for constructive cooperation at various levels.
"The project of cooperation with the organization to save the temples of Abu Simbel and Philae Island from drowning, which has continued over two decades of the last century, is one of the most prominent and most important manifestations of this cooperation," Sisi noted.
He stressed that this example of cooperation represents an important experience in the history of the organization’s work and its journey in the protection of world heritage.
Sisi arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport in the French capital, Paris, on Thursday to take part in the International Conference on Libya.
“The President’s participation in this important conference comes in response to the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, and in light of the close relations between Egypt and France, as well as Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting the political track in Libya at the bilateral, regional and international levels,” noted Rady.
