A high-level delegation from the United Kingdom met with officials from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday to strengthen partnerships focused on women’s rights and social development.
The delegation, led by Baroness Harriet Harman, the UK’s Special Envoy for Women and Girls, was received by Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, the OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs. The meeting, which included the British Consul General in Jeddah and representatives from the UK Embassy in Riyadh, centered on increasing women's participation in political and economic life.
Discussions focused on protecting women from violence and aligning humanitarian assistance goals. The OIC outlined its current policy initiatives aimed at promoting opportunities for women across its member states. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation on inclusive social development in international forums.
