The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued a sharp condemnation Saturday of statements made by Mike Huckabee, the United States Ambassador to Israel, calling them a "dangerous and irresponsible" provocation.
The Jeddah-based organization stated that Huckabee’s remarks constitute an unacceptable call for the expansion of Israeli occupation and the seizure of Palestinian and Arab lands. The OIC argued these claims are based on a "false and rejected historical and ideological narrative" that violates state sovereignty, UN resolutions, and the UN Charter.
Warning that such "extremist ideological rhetoric" threatens regional stability, the OIC General Secretariat reiterated its support for a sovereign Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The group cautioned that these remarks encourage illegal measures such as displacement and annexation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
