The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in collaboration with the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), inaugurated today 14th October 2015 in Ankara, Republic of Türkiye, a Workshop on “Cyber Addiction: Best Practices to Protect Children from Violence via Internet in the OIC Member States.”
The two-day event, hosted at SESRIC Headquarters, brings together representatives from OIC Member States, relevant OIC institutions, and international and regional partners. The Workshop aims to enhance capacity building and resilience across OIC Member States, exchange experiences and best practices in preventing cyber addiction, and develop joint initiatives to ensure the digital safety and well-being of children and youth.
Throughout the sessions, participants will discuss the growing risks associated with excessive Internet use, its psychological and social impacts, and the roles of governments, civil society, and technology platforms in fostering responsible and safe digital behavior.
The Workshop is expected to conclude with the adoption of practical recommendations aimed at strengthening child protection policies in the digital environment and raising public awareness about the risks of cyber addiction in OIC Member States.
