The OIC Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology, H.E. Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher attended in Vienna, Austria, a high-level side-event, convened by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Türkiye to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the margins of the IAEA’s Technical Assistance and Cooperation Committee (TACC) meeting.
The event, held under the auspices of the ongoing Türkiye’s Chairmanship of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, was titled “Exploring New Avenues of Cooperation between the OIC and the IAEA in the Area of Nuclear Science and Technology”, and brought together senior officials, experts, and representatives of OIC-IAEA Member States. The event also spotlighted the IAEA’s “Rays of Hope” and “Atoms for Food” initiatives and their impact on cancer care, agriculture, and food security across OIC Member States.
In his keynote statement, H.E. Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher underscored the importance of harnessing nuclear science for peaceful purposes and reaffirmed the OIC’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the IAEA in this field.
