The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today issued a strong condemnation against new Israeli plans to build additional colonial settlement units in the occupied West Bank.
The OIC affirmed that these expansionist activities represent a grave violation of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334. The organization stressed that Israel’s settlement policy aims to alter the geographical and demographic character of the occupied Palestinian territories and torpedo the two-state solution.
The General Secretariat called upon the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities by taking immediate and decisive action to compel Israel, the occupying power, to halt all settlement activities and hold perpetrators accountable for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
