The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, began a six-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China to strengthen bilateral ties and constructive dialogue.
The visit commenced in Shanghai with meetings at the Shanghai University of International Studies. According to an OIC statement, Taha and his delegation are scheduled to travel to Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. There, he will meet with regional officials and visit the Xinjiang Islamic Institute to observe the conditions of the local Muslim community.
The tour will conclude in Beijing, where Taha is slated to hold high-level talks with China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and other senior officials. Discussions will focus on enhancing the existing partnership and exploring cooperation in fields of common interest between the OIC and China.
