On Thursday, China approved its first COVID-19 vaccine for general public use, developed by the state-owned pharmaceutical company, "Sinopharm", according to Russia Today (RT).
The approval announced by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
It came a day after the Beijing Institute of Biological Products, a vaccine development unit at CNBG (China National Biotec Group), announced that the "Sinopharm" vaccine has been proven to be 79.34% effective.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) this month became the first country to roll out the vaccine to the public.
It is worth mentioning that, China has at least five vaccines, developed by Sinovac, units of CNBG and CanSino Biologics, as well as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, but they are all undergoing last-phase trials.
