The Japanese coast guard has received notification from North Korea regarding its plans to conduct a satellite launch sometime between August 24 and August 31, the Kyodo news agency reported on Tuesday.
The anticipated launch is believed to constitute a renewed effort after a previous unsuccessful attempt in late May, where North Korea endeavored to place a military reconnaissance satellite into orbit.
On May 31, North Korea made its initial endeavor to launch a military reconnaissance satellite named Malligyong-1 using the Chollima-1 rocket.
Regrettably, the launch ended in failure as the rocket encountered challenges with its second-stage engine and fuel stability, resulting in the rocket and satellite falling into the Yellow Sea.
Following this incident, North Korean authorities have outlined intentions to address the technical difficulties and execute a subsequent launch in the near future.
