Nikki Reed, best known for her role in the "Twilight" franchise, gave birth to her second child with husband Ian Somerhalder, a baby boy, “a few weeks ago.”
The 35-year-old gave a glimpse of her home birth via Instagram Stories on Thursday, calling it “one of the most beautiful days of [her] life.”
Before thanking her midwife, Reed continued, “[He was] born at home in water and surrounded by love, in an instant my heart doubled in size.”
The actress startled her Instagram followers with a baby bump photo in January after “years of dreaming, manifesting and praying.”
The then-pregnant star gushed, “2023 celebrating life🖤. … So much love. What a gift.”
Reed noted that while she and Somerhalder, 44, tend to keep their family life private, her pregnancy news was “too good not to share.”
The “Vampire Diaries” alum made an announcement of his own at the time.
“All I’ve ever wanted from the time I was a young boy was to have a big family,” he captioned the same shot of Reed’s budding belly. “Thank you Nik for giving me that gift. ROUND TWO HERE WE GO!!!!!
“Thank you thank you to this incredible human for the gift of life and love, for being the most incredible mom and working so hard to make dreams come true!!!” Somerhalder continued, adding that there was “nothing more beautiful” than his expanding family.
Reed and Somerhalder became parents in July 2017 when their daughter, Bodhi, now 5, was born.
The new parents waited until February of the following year to give a glimpse of their baby girl via Instagram and have since continued hiding her face from the public.
The duo took a “month of silence” after Bodhi’s arrival, turning off their phones and denying visitors access to their home.
“[That way], there’s no expectation for us to communicate,” Reed explained to Parents magazine in August 2017. “You don’t get those first 30 days back, and we want to be fully present.”
The “Thirteen” star and Somerhalder began dating in 2014, and the “Lost” alum got down on one knee the following year.
