The tripartite summit between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Nikos Anastasiades, President of the Republic of Cyprus, and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Greece, was held today, Wednesday, in the Cypriot capital, Nicosia.
“The summit sessions dealt with ways to enhance joint tripartite cooperation in various fields between the three countries, within the framework of the historical and distinguished relations that bind them together,” said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
He added that the three leaders agreed to intensify consultation and coordination on developments in the regional political situation.
During the summit, President Sisi expressed his aspiration to implement more strategic projects for the tripartite cooperation mechanism, especially in the field of energy, similar to the recently launched East Mediterranean Gas Forum, to embody the keenness and will of the three countries to maintain the momentum of activating cooperation paths between them.
The three leaders also addressed aspects of strengthening the fields of economic, commercial, investment, tourism and cultural cooperation, with the aim of establishing a new phase of strategic integration between the three countries.

Rady noted that the summit touched on the most prominent regional issues and files of common interest, especially developments in Libya and Syria, as well as the developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.
“Sisi stressed the importance of concerted efforts by all countries of the Eastern Mediterranean to face the challenges that threaten the region and restore stability,” the spokesman manifested.
The three leaders also agreed on the importance of intensive work to reach a comprehensive political settlement within the framework of preserving the unity, independence and territorial integrity of regional countries of the region.
The summit also touched on efforts to combat illegal immigration, terrorism and extremist ideology.
The three leaders stressed the importance of continuing efforts made towards achieving more cooperation and coordination in the interest of their peoples and the peoples of the entire region, according to Rady.
