American rapper Nicki Minaj retired from the music industry to start a family with her husband Kenneth Petty.
The pair began dating in 2018 and have known each other since they were kids. They tied the knot in October 2019, after Minaj announced her retirement from music a month prior.
The 37-year-old rapper even sang about their meeting in her verse on Chance the Rapper’s song “Zanies and Fools” in which she raps, “I met my husband when I was 17 out in Queens/ If you love it, let it go, now I know what that means.”
The Grammy-nominated rapper announced on Monday via her official social media accounts that she and her husband are expecting.

Minaj also posted a photo showing her baby bump, and captioned:"#Preggers.".
She surprised fans in October 2019, when she posted on Instagram about marrying Petty, an old friend of hers.
Minaj shared a video on the platform and captioned: "Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19,".
In June, the rapper opened up about married life in an interview with fellow rapper Lil Wayne on his Young Money Radio with Lil Wayne on Apple Music series.
This will be Minaj's first child.

It is worth mentioning that Minaj born, Onika Tanya Maraj, is a Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, and model.
She gained public recognition after releasing the mixtapes “Playtime Is Over”, “Sucka Free”, and “Beam Me Up Scotty”.
In 2009, Minaj released her first studio album, Pink Friday (2010), which peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 and was ultimately certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
