New York Fashion Week is officially back for the first time since February 2020.

The five-day event, which typically draws 230,000 people to the city and generates $532 million in visitor spending, will be about half its usual size, hosting between 150 and 200 attendees instead of the 500-plus audiences from the past.

The majority of the attendees will be composed of industry professionals rather than friends of the designer and fans.

The event will also be held without an international press, buyers, and models, some of whom are subjected to the US travel ban.

New York Fashion Week Will No Longer Be At Skylight Clarkson Square - New York Fashion Week Location Change 2017

The attendees will need to prove they are vaccinated by downloading the Clear Health Pass app though the paper CDC vaccination cards will be accepted in a pinch as well.

A check-in rep is set to scan invitation bar codes will simply add the vaccination check to the process as well as inform those who have no proof to leave. Masks will be “strongly” encouraged, according to IMG, the show’s producer.

Moreover, the models and production teams backstage will be monitored by coronavirus compliance staff.

The upcoming event will be the first in-person fashion week since the coronavirus outbreak turned the biannual event into live streams and lookbooks rather than the traditional in-person show.
