The Scientific Research Foundation celebrated the winners of the fourth season of Egypt’s National Reading Project in a ceremony held at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The competition, which drew millions of participants nationwide, recognized 32 winners across three categories: “Cultured Student,” “Cultured University Student,” and “Cultured Teacher.” Each first-place winner received 1 million Egyptian pounds ($21,000), while second-place winners earned 500,000 pounds. Additional prizes ranged from 250,000 to 50,000 pounds.
Top honors went to Amin Amin al-Sayed from Sohag, Shereef Essam from Al-Azhar University in Assiut, and Arabic teacher Bahgat Smida from Beheira.
Najja al-Shamsi, director of the Scientific Research Foundation, praised the initiative’s cultural impact, while officials from Al-Azhar University and Egypt’s Education Ministry lauded its role in shaping a generation of readers.
The ceremony also marked the launch of the project’s fifth season and a revamped website
