Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka advanced to the Australian Open final, after beating Serena Williams 6-3, 6-4, depriving her of the record equalization of Margaret Court's record of 24 singles titles in Grand Slam.

Osaka ended her win with 20 to 12 wins by Williams, who left the arena amid loud applause from the crowd. Players and fans had just returned to Melbourne Park on Thursday after five days of lockdown imposed due to the pandemic.
In the final match, Osaka will face the winner of the match between American Jennifer Brady and Czech Karolina Mushova.
