Nabila Makram, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs said: “My family and I are going through a severe ordeal, and we are going through a difficult time after my son was accused of committing a murder in the United States."

She continued, through her personal account on Facebook: “Doing my duties as a minister in the Egyptian government does not contradict at all with my being a believing mother who bravely faces the plight of her son, and whatever the consequences, as a minister, I bear my full responsibility towards my position and the requirements of working with it, and I differentiate It is clear between what is personal and what is general."

She said: "As a mother, I ask you to pray for me and my family in this ordeal, and I pray with you for my son Ramy and for the victims who met their Lord, and I also go to the media to investigate accuracy in what they publish, and take into account honesty and humanity in their dealings with that ordeal that befell an Egyptian family waiting for a ruling that is still in knowledge of the unseen and in the conscience of the judge with it.”

Makram confirmed on Saturday that her son, who resides in the US, was involved in a murder, noting that the accusation is being analyzed in a US court, and So far no conclusive ruling has been issued.

This came days after Western media confirmed the involvement of the minister’s son in a murder and revealed that a 26-year-old Egyptian had been charged with murder for killing his American co-worker and neighbor, adding that the US Supreme Court has set a hearing for June 17 alongside his trial.
