N. Korean Leader Celebrates New Year with Family - PHOTOS

​Pyongyang witnessed grand New Year celebrations attended by leader Kim Jong Un, alongside his daughter and wife.

​Kim was accompanied during the festivities by his daughter, Ju Ae, who is viewed by some analysts as the frontrunner to succeed her father.

​Images released by North Korea's state media (KCNA) showed her embracing children next to him, sitting by his side, and holding his hand; moments that carried strong messages of family bond and continuity.

​In a speech delivered by Kim, he praised the efforts of the North Korean people which, according to him, led to "amazing successes and changes" during 2025.

Moreover, he called for unity, emphasizing its critical importance as the country approaches a major party congress expected in early 2026, which will determine the nation’s future direction.

​It is worth mentioning that, the 9th Congress of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea is expected to convene soon to outline the state’s plans for the next five years across several sectors, including the development of nuclear weapons and armament, as well as the economy.
