A South Korean lawmaker said the country's spy agency told a commission Thursday that North Korea was preparing provocations, including an ICBM launch, in protest of the upcoming summit between the leaders of South Korea, Japan, and the United States.
The National Intelligence Service told a South Korean parliamentary intelligence committee that North Korea is preparing various provocations in response to the joint South Korea-US summit.
Military maneuvers will be held next week, according to the ruling deputy of the People's Power Party.
US President Joe Biden will host the trilateral summit on Friday and will be attended by South Korean President Yoon Sok Yul and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
It will be held at the Camp David presidential retreat near Washington.
