Police in Myanmar have arrested a well-known actor for supporting opponents of the military coup, hours after two people were killed when police opened fire to disperse protesters in Mandalay, the second biggest city.
The actor, Lu Min, had taken part in protests in Yangon and was one of six celebrities the army said Wednesday were wanted under an anti-incitement law. The army accused Lu Min of encouraging civil servants to join the protest. If convicted he faces a two-year prison sentence.
His wife said in a video posted on his Facebook page that the police came to their home in Yangon and arrested him.
"They forced open the door and took him away and didn't tell me where they were taking him. I couldn’t stop them. They didn’t tell me," Khin Sabai Oo said.
