The Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, expressed its utmost condemnation of the burning of the Holy Quran outside Stockholm’s central mosque by an extremist in Sweden.
The Council strongly condemns such heinous acts that reflect abhorrent hatred and unacceptable racism.
It also emphasizes that the recurring desecration of Islamic religious sanctities is a blatant provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world and promotes extremist, bigoted, and hateful rhetoric.
The Council also called for urgent and decisive measures to be taken to halt such offensive practices, affirming that these repeated barbaric insults cannot be justified or protected under the pretext of freedom of opinion or expression.
