On Monday, French police reported that fiber optic networks belonging to several telecommunications companies were subjected to “overnight vandalism” in six French regions.

Fortunately, the disruptions did not affect internet connectivity in Paris.

The vandalism targeted areas in northern, eastern, southeastern, and southwestern France.

This incident follows a similar attack on the railway network three days earlier, which led to significant disruptions in high-speed train services just hours before the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games held in Paris on Friday.

The recent wave of vandalism against France’s infrastructure highlights growing concerns about the security of essential services.

The attack on the fiber optic network, a critical component for telecommunications, underscores the vulnerability of digital and transport networks to coordinated acts of sabotage.

The earlier attack on the railway network disrupted train services, creating chaos for travelers and raising security concerns as the city prepared to host the Olympic Games, a major international event.
