Mohamed Aboutrika Back Home... True or False?

In a joyful surprise, it has been circulated that Egyptian professional footballer Mohamed Aboutrika will be allowed to return back to Egypt. There is no confirmation yet; However thousands of his fans have begun wondering about this story.

Fans and supporters of Trika on social media platforms shared comments of sports editors telling that the Egyptian midfielder will return home after he had moved to Qatar since 2013.

Aboutrika is considered to be one of the most popular players in Egyptian football. He has been working for BeIN Sports TV channel following a verdict put him on the country’s terror list in 2013.

Later in July, 2018, the Court of Cassation ordered the removal of Aboutrika’s name from the list.

He was accused of funding the Muslim Brotherhood group, which is banned in Egypt and other regional countries thanks to the group’s terrorist activities.

In 2015, some of his assets were frozen, but the decision was overturned in June 2016.

Some sports editors claimed that Chairman of Saudi General Authority for Entertainment Turki Al-Sheikh and Ahly Sport Club President Mahmoud El Khatib have communicated with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, urging him to issue a pardon for Aboutrika.

Recently, there have been some photos of Aboutrika with popular stars who are known for their good tries with the Egyptian government such as Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah, and movie star Mohamed Ramadan.

After circulation of those photos on social media, many have expected that Aboutrika's problem with the government may be solved in a short time.

Among of his many nicknames, there are: "El Magico", "Amir El Qolob" (prince of hearts) and "Arab's Zidane.

He is often considered the best midfielder in the Egyptian history and is widely regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all time.

Aboutrika has the record of most Africa Best Player of the Year (4 times, in 2006, 2008, 2012, and 2013).

Famous sports analyst Gamal El Assy wrote on his Facebook profile that “Soon…Aboutrika back in Cairo.”

Assy’s post spread widely as thousands shared it across the social media networks, expressing their hope that this piece of news will be true.

Accordingly, sports editors have begun writing newsfeeds wondering if Al-Ahly club will welcome Aboutrika again and will use his skills for the football team’s training.

According to Gamal Zidan, sports anchor, Aboutrika is not talking about his return to Cairo at the moment because he does not like to talk about his personal issues in public.

“However, I do believe that Aboutrika’s crisis is getting to be solved very soon,” Zidan said.
