"Misr Sat 2" Satellite Kicks off in Sino-Arab Expo

Dr. Mamdouh Salman, the Egyptian Economic and Trade Bureau Head in China, explained that the launch of the "Misr Sat 2" satellite project is a new step for Egyptian-Chinese cooperation in the space field.

During the official launch of ''Misr Sat2'' at the 4th China-Arab Expo in Yinchuan, Salman reported that the Egyptian-Chinese relations were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2014.

On other hand, Deputy Director of the Chinese Academy of Space Technology, "Shi Pingyan" reported that the ''Misr Sat 2'' project is a symbol of the growing depth of Sino-Egyptian cooperation, which the Academy plans to establish a joint management and technical team to accelerate the project completion.

4th China-Arab Expo

Noteworthy, the 4th China-Arab States Expo opened on Thursday in Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, focusing on economic, trade, science and technology cooperation.

The four-day event featured trade fairs and forums on infrastructure, Internet plus healthcare, high technology, modern agriculture, logistics, tourism, the digital economy and industrial cooperation, attracting about 12,600 participants from 2,900 regional organizations, commerce chambers, associations and enterprises in 89 countries.

Boydiel Houmeid, vice president of the National Assembly of Mauritania, stressing that the long history of the China-Arab friendship and cooperation with the steady growth of economic and sci-tech strength of both sides, there is huge potential for bilateral cooperation in various areas.

The expo was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the regional government of Ningxia.

Inaugurated in 2013, the biennial event has become an important platform for China and Arab countries to jointly pursue the Belt and Road Initiative.

Meanwhile, China-Arab economic and trade cooperation has gained steam in recent years. Last year, the bilateral trade volume between the two sides reached 244.3 billion U.S. dollars, jumping 28 % year on year.
