On Sunday, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, inaugurated the newly restored Ramla and Haddad Towers at the Salah El-Din Al-Ayoubi Citadel in Cairo.

The minister was accompanied by Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities; Mr. Ahmed Obeid, Assistant Minister for Secretariat Affairs and the Ministry's Permanent Agent; Dr. Jamal Mustafa, Deputy Secretary-General for Islamic Antiquities; Dr. Abu Bakr Ahmed, who oversees the Islamic, Coptic, and Jewish Antiquities Sector; and Mr. Ahmed El-Shabouri, CEO of Citadel Asset Management Company, responsible for providing and operating services at the citadel.

The minister's tour highlighted the significant work undertaken to restore and improve the towers, aligning with the Ministry's strategy to enrich the citadel's visitor experience. This initiative is part of the broader "Cairo City Break" cultural product, set to be unveiled at the ITB Berlin tourism trade fair in March.

The "Cairo City Break" aims to transform Cairo into a standalone tourist destination, offering six unique tourist experiences that showcase the city's rich Pharaonic, Coptic, and Islamic heritage. The initiative is expected to extend the average tourist stay in Cairo from 3-4 days to 12 days.

With the opening of the Ramla and Haddad Towers, and following the recent inauguration of the Suleiman Pasha Al-Khadem Mosque, the citadel is poised to offer an enhanced cultural experience, potentially increasing the average visit duration to 3 hours and boosting Cairo's overnight tourism.
