Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, has issued a ministerial decree approving the new organizational structure for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) Authority. This move follows the recent approval of the museum’s job evaluation schedule by the Central Agency for Organization and Administration.

Minister Fathy explained that the new structure serves as an update to the 2021 model, tailored to meet the museum's actual operational needs following its official opening. He emphasized that the update aims to create a more flexible and efficient framework capable of keeping pace with current operational demands while optimizing the museum's overall workflow.

The Minister added that work is underway to implement this structure to ensure seamless, high-quality operations, enabling the museum to fulfill its strategic mandates and goals.

Key Highlights of the New Structure:

The Tutankhamun Training Center: A prominent new addition designed to provide specialized programs for museum staff. Notably, the center will also offer paid professional training services in archaeology and museology for both Egyptians and foreigners, particularly students.

Executive Leadership: Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the GEM Authority, noted that the structure includes two Vice CEO positions—one for Archaeological Affairs and another for Administration and Operations. The Vice CEO for Archaeological Affairs has already been appointed, with the recruitment process for the second deputy currently underway.

Specialized Departments: The hierarchy covers diverse fields including Archaeological Affairs, International and Public Relations, Strategic Management, Internal Audit and Governance, Human Resources, and Investment and Financial Resource Development.

Archaeological and Institutional Divisions:

Dr. Ahmed Rahima, Assistant Minister for Human Resources Development, detailed the specialized archaeological divisions:

 Conservation Center and Scientific Laboratories.

Collections and Exhibitions: Covering museum display, registration and documentation, artifact storage, the Children’s Museum, the Educational Center, and Scientific Research and Publishing.

New Central Department for Institutional Resources: A newly established branch to oversee core operations, including Financial Affairs, Administrative Affairs, and Contracts.
