According to authorities, a bomb blast aboard a minibus in the Afghan capital killed at least four people and injured several more on Saturday, according to Agence France-Presse.

The blast in Kabul's eastern sector was the latest in a string of devastating bombings that have wracked the country in recent months, just over a year after the Taliban took power.

According to police spokesman Khalid Zadran, a team of Taliban security personnel had been dispatched to the region to examine the blast.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the blast, which occurred in a neighbourhood primarily populated by Sunni Pashtuns.

While the number of bombings has decreased since the Taliban took power in August, attacks have recently increased.

During the holy month of Ramadan, which ended on April 30 in Afghanistan, dozens of civilians were killed in largely sectarian attacks in Kabul and other places, some of which were claimed by the Daesh group.

The Shiite Hazaras and Sufi communities were the targets of several of these atrocities.

Minibuses transporting passengers from offices or markets to their homes were targeted in some of the bombs.

The bloodiest Ramadan incident occurred on April 22 in the northern city of Kunduz, when a blast targeting Sufi worshippers ripped through a mosque.

At least 33 people were killed in that blast and scores more were wounded.

The regional branch of Daesh in Sunni-majority Afghanistan has repeatedly targeted Shiites and minorities such as Sufis, who follow a mystical branch of Islam.
