Meta has announced it is testing a standalone version of Vibes, its AI-powered platform for creating and exploring short videos generated entirely by artificial intelligence, separate from the main Meta AI app.
Originally launched in September 2025 as part of the Meta AI experience, Vibes allows users to create or remix vertical short videos using advanced AI tools and browse a feed of fully AI-generated content.
In this digital environment, users do not appear in the videos themselves; all clips are produced or reshaped algorithmically, according to TechCrunch.
Meta’s decision follows strong user engagement with AI-generated video content, prompting the company to provide a dedicated space focused on creativity and discovery.
Separating Vibes into an independent app offers Meta several strategic advantages: a concentrated focus on AI video, development of advanced creative tools such as content discovery algorithms, and new monetization opportunities through potential subscription-based features.
The move positions Meta in direct competition with emerging AI video platforms, including OpenAI’s Sora, which blends AI-generated content with social feeds. The standalone Vibes is currently being tested in select markets, with a gradual rollout planned.
Early indicators suggest Meta is betting on AI-generated content becoming a primary creative format, not just a secondary feature, potentially reshaping mobile visual content in the coming years.
