The holy city of Medina has welcomed a total of 718,030 pilgrims from various nationalities who arrived via air and sea ports to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year.

According to statistics released by the Hajj and Visit Committee on the movement of pilgrims arriving and departing from Medina, a total of 29,090 pilgrims arrived, with 25,962 arriving at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina on 105 flights. In addition, the immigration center received 2,099 pilgrims on 65 flights while the Hajj center for those coming by land received 924 pilgrims on 22 flights.

As for departures, the statistics indicate that 556,953 pilgrims have left Medina for the holy city of Mecca, while 161,021 pilgrims remain in Medina. The occupancy rate of housing in Medina has reached 54%, and 32,631 pilgrims have benefited from the medical services provided to them.

The Hajj pilgrimage is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, and this year's pilgrimage has been marked by strict health and safety measures due to the ongoing pandemic. The Saudi Arabian government has limited the number of pilgrims allowed to perform the Hajj to 60,000 this year, with only those who have been fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 within the last six months being allowed to participate.

Despite the limitations, the pilgrimage remains an important event for Muslims around the world, and the city of Medina continues to play an important role in hosting and supporting pilgrims. The city's officials have taken great care to ensure the safety and well-being of all those participating in the Hajj, and the high occupancy rates suggest that the city's facilities are being put to good use.
