The African Union Commission’s (AUC) Information and Communication Directorate (ICD) has officially launched the online accreditation process for media representatives planning to cover the upcoming 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly and the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council.
The high-level meetings are scheduled to take place at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa between February 11 and 15, 2026.
These sessions will follow the 51st Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC).
*Summit Schedule & Key Dates
The 2026 Summit activities will be divided into three main phases:
January 12 – 30: 51st Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC).
February 11 – 12: 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council (Ministerial Session).
February 14 – 15: 39th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly (Heads of State and Government Session).
*Accreditation and Deadline
Journalists wishing to cover the summit physically are required to register through the official AU accreditation portal:

The ICD has set a firm deadline for all media applications: January 31, 2026.
*Participation Guidelines
Accredited journalists will have access to all open sessions. The AUC advises media personnel to monitor the official summit page regularly for updates regarding documentation or potential changes to the meeting format.
*Important Notes:
Costs: The African Union Commission will not cover any travel, accommodation, or logistical costs incurred by participating media.
