At least two people were injured after a fire swept through the business center Grand Setun Plaza, several Russian media outlets reported on Friday.

Firefighters rescued over 120 people from the burning business center in western Moscow, a spokesperson for the Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS.

"According to preliminary reports, more than 120 people have been rescued from the burning building, and the search for more people continues," the spokesperson said.

The blaze has engulfed the first four floors of the building, scorching 1,000 square meters. The blaze has been classified as a five-alarm fire.

A member of the firefighting operations center told TASS that the fire had been triggered by a short circuit caused by an incorrect installation of facade lighting.

Last April, a huge fire at the Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Forces in the Russian city of Tver left seven people dead, and dozens injured.

“We confirm a number of seven deaths at the moment,” the source said adding that the number of casualties might increase.

The emergency services pointed out that the fire took place in an area spanning 2,500 square meters, adding that it had been extinguished by rescuers.

At least 25 people suffered injuries caused by fumes, while others received injuries after jumping out of windows to escape the fire, according to media outlets.

The flames erupted on the second floor due to a short circuit failure was the cause behind the reported incident, according to preliminary reports.
