A member of the firefighting operations center told TASS that the fire had been triggered by a short circuit caused by an incorrect installation of facade lighting.

Last April, a huge fire at the Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Forces in the Russian city of Tver left seven people dead, and dozens injured.

“We confirm a number of seven deaths at the moment,” the source said adding that the number of casualties might increase.

The emergency services pointed out that the fire took place in an area spanning 2,500 square meters, adding that it had been extinguished by rescuers.

At least 25 people suffered injuries caused by fumes, while others received injuries after jumping out of windows to escape the fire, according to media outlets.

The flames erupted on the second floor due to a short circuit failure was the cause behind the reported incident, according to preliminary reports.
