Iranian state media reported on Saturday that a powerful explosion of unknown cause struck a residential building in the southern coastal city of Bandar Abbas, while denying reports that any military official was targeted in the incident.

According to state television, the blast hit an eight-story residential building, destroying two floors and causing damage to several vehicles and shops in the surrounding area along Moallem Avenue.

Emergency and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene and were working to assist residents and secure the area.

Local media dismissed circulating reports claiming that a commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was targeted in the explosion, stressing that no such attack had taken place.

Authorities have not yet announced the cause of the blast, and no official information has been released regarding casualties or injuries as investigations continue.
