I hoped to follow the procedures of celebrating the centenary of the establishment of the famous Maryland Park in Heliopolis, which is registered in the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and in the UNESCO as an important monument containing rare greenery and trees, representing the lung of Heliopolis district and the theater of the memories of its inhabitants.

This park, established to implement Baron Empain Palace’s plan in Heliopolis, to be a new district in everything, in its distinctive architectural character, in the quality of trees planted in it and in the activities held in it such as horse racing or social and cultural festivals, and was provided with a historical platform It is the Granada platform in front of the Maryland Park, which is usually decorated in feasts and historical and national occasions.

Unfortunately, I was astonished by many calls from the people of Heliopolis district.. The people are calling for help following the excavation works in the park and the uprooting of trees. They say that this demolition is to construct a memorial. I do not know which memorial is being built, why in this place, is it normal to destroy a park registered as an antique.. Everything that happens harms Egypt and threatens to remove the park from the list of human heritage in UNESCO.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is always directing to preserve greenery and expand green spaces, to provide a better environmental and healthy life for citizens, as well as to create a character of civilized coordination for the new Egyptian state. It is just the beginning of what the president aspires and seeks to, he always encourages  the values of beauty, and love, as well as renovation of museums and paying attention to antiquities to highlight the ancient human face, preserve human heritage and history.

I do not know who made these decisions, may be Heliopolis Company For Housing & Development, may be the governor of Cairo, but I urge those who made the decision to preserve Egypt’s heritage and history, and to protect future generations.
