Mali Earn Comfortable 4-1 Victory over Debutantes Mauritania

Mali began their Africa Cup of Nations Campaign with a comfortable 4-1 Victory over Group E rivals Mauritania in Suez.

The Eagles went ahead through Sporting Lisbon forward Abdoulaye Diaby's left footed shot from outside the box after 37 minutes.

Mali's forward Moussa Marega added the second goal for his team, converting it from the penalty spot after 45 minutes in Suez following a clear foul on Diadie Samassekou.

Adama Traoré II tripled the advantage with a great shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner.

Mauritania's Lions of Chinguetti responded with one goal through a penalty in the 72 minutes.

Mali's response came very quickly after only one minute when Adama Traoré II managed to add the fourth goal in the game through a left footed shot from outside the box to the top left corner. Mali's possession of the ball mounted to 52% Vs 48% for Mauritania.

This win put Mali top of Group E after Tunisia held a 1-1 draw with Angola. Next, Mali will play against Tunisia on Friday, June 28(16:30 CLT), while Mauritania will face Angola on Saturday, June 29 (16:30 CLT).
