Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli praised the “deep relations" between his country and Azerbaijan, during his meeting with the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova on Tuesday.

According to a statement recently issued by the Cabinet media centre, Madbouli said: "Egypt-Azerbaijan ties are based on cooperation and mutual understanding about the different international issues."

Madbouli also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the parliaments of Egypt and Azerbaijan.

The prime minister said his government is looking forward to boosting the volume of trade exchange and investments between the two countries.

In the same connection, he reviewed investment opportunities at the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), especially in the field of logistics.

"Cairo is also eyeing enhanced energy cooperation with Baku, especially in light of the global energy crisis," Madbouli noted.

In turn, Gafarova said she is pleased with the level of cooperation between her country and Egypt.

She also hailed the role played by diplomatic missions in both countries to further strengthen bilateral ties at all levels.
