French President Emmanuel Macron surprised the world with a tweet on the "X" platform, announcing that France would officially recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations meetings. The post was written in Hebrew, but the language and content were a political declaration that carried dimensions greater than its word count.

When the French president writes in Hebrew, he is not addressing the French people, nor is he addressing the Arab states. Rather, he is speaking directly to Israeli public opinion. It's as if he is saying: We do not stand against you, but we believe that recognizing Palestine is not against you either.

This declaration came at a time while the war in Gaza has been going on for months, the humanitarian situation is catastrophic, and the picture before the world is clear: the continuation of this conflict without end is unacceptable, and there is no meaning to a peaceful solution that does not begin with mutual recognition and granting the Palestinians their minimum right to live.

Macron did not propose a symbolic step, but rather a comprehensive political vision.

He linked recognition to a ceasefire, the release of prisoners, the entry of aid, disarmament, the reconstruction of Gaza, and ensuring Israel's security...and ultimately, the establishment of a demilitarized Palestinian state.

Some may view this vision as insufficient or not entirely satisfactory to the Palestinians. But despite many reservations, it breaks the usual European silence and opens a breach in the wall of hesitation and cold diplomacy.

For the first time in years, Paris has emerged from the "gray zone" and expressed a frank opinion on an issue that most capitals have tried to avoid.

This transformation is not measured solely by the positions of governments, but rather by the impact it could have on global public opinion and on other European governments that continue to hesitate. There is a war of extermination and starvation that is nearly wiping out an entire people.

In a world rife with conflict, acknowledging the truth is becoming a rare stance. Even if it came late, it came at a time when the suffering is multiplying, to give Palestinians some hope and remind the world that their cause has not been erased from memory. What Macron said is considered the beginning of the road, an attempt to establish justice that has been far removed.
