French President Emmanuel Macron said that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin made a “strategic and fundamental mistake” by attacking Ukraine, and today he is “isolated,” adding that he does not “rule out” visiting Kyiv soon.
On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the new Western sanctions against Russia will only aggravate the situation in global markets.
The Russian President added that the current situation of the global food crisis developed with the pandemic long before the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
Russian media quoted Putin as saying that the rise in fertilizer prices had nothing to do with Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.
Putin pointed out that Europe has exaggerated the importance of alternative energy sources, saying that the food crisis in the world is linked to Europe’s energy policy.
He noted that Russia “does not prevent the export of grain from Ukraine and is ready to guarantee exports from the ports of the Azov Sea.”
“Russia has finished removing mines from the Ukrainian ports under its control, and grain can be exported through them,” Putin added.
