French President Emmanuel Macron held phone call on Sunday evening with his Israeli counterpart, Isaac Herzog, the French and Israeli presidencies announced.

The French presidency stated that Macron tackled the assessment presented by the United Nations and non-governmental organizations regarding the continuous deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, during the conference held in Paris last Thursday.

Macron referred to urgent humanitarian needs, especially with regard to access and protection of humanitarian workers and the civilian population, noting that the issue of hostages being held in Gaza was also raised during the conference held in Paris.

Macron reiterated that it is now necessary to open a political horizon, considering that meeting the aspirations of the Palestinians in establishing a state living in peace alongside Israel will allow ensuring lasting peace in the region, according to the French presidency.
