French President Emmanuel Macron made a strong cabinet reshuffle, Thursday, for key domestic portfolios like education, housing, and urban affairs, after the latest fierce riots the country saw.

Macron faced various domestic disputes starting from the protests over pension reform, followed by the demonstrations over the killing of an Algerian-Moroccan descent teen.

Among the key changes in the cabinet was at the Education Ministry, Pap Ndiaye was replaced by Gabriel Attal.

Attal was France's youngest cabinet member at 29 when he joined the government in 2018. He took the responsibilities of Budget Ministry, before his re-appointing as Education Ministry.

Macron also appointed Sabrina Agresti-Roubache for the urban affairs ministry. Agresti-Roubache is a lawmaker of North African descent born in one of Marseille's northern housing blocks, to the post.

The mayor of Dunkirk was brought in for the Housing Ministry.

The New Health Minister is Aurelien Rousseau who run the French Authority of Public Health during the COVID-19 pandemic, before moving to be Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne's Chief of Staff last year.

Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, and Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin will stay in their positions.
