Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the General Authority for Universal Health Insurance said on Saturday that Egypt is witnessing an unprecedented development in various fields; in a way that contributes to changing the life of citizens across all governorates.
Maait added during a tour in Luxor that all national projects are integrated to ultimately improve the lives of citizens, and raise the level of services provided to them, with priority given to health and education.
He pointed out that the national project to implement the comprehensive health insurance system is the main tool for reforming the health sector in Egypt.
The Minister of Finance noted, “We are racing against time to implement the presidential mandate to implement a comprehensive health insurance system, so that the umbrella of health care extends to all citizens within 10 years instead of 15."
He added that the pandemic reflected the importance of the presidential package to reform the entire health sector, emphasizing that successful initiates adopted in Egypt, including “100 million health" for early detection of virus c and non-communicable diseases, and the "Elimination of Waiting Lists" initiative, both gained significance following the spread of the global pandemic.

The Minister pointed out that the comprehensive health insurance project is the biggest guarantee to provide integrated health care for all citizens. He added: “We work now in the remaining governorates of the first phase, including Luxor, Ismailia, Aswan, Suez, and South Sinai to have the new system implemented by next year.
The minister added: “We came to Luxor to implement the comprehensive health insurance system, which was successfully adopted in Port Said," pointing out that the state bears on behalf of citizens, to help them benefit from the new system.
He stressed that the automation of the comprehensive health insurance system services contributes to strengthening governance and ensuring comprehensive quality, in a manner that is consistent with the presidential initiative "A Dignified Life".
He continued: "The comprehensive health insurance system provides integrated health care according to the highest standards of medical quality to all Egyptians without discrimination, in order to establish social justice."
On his part, Hossam Sadek, Chief Executive Officer of the Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) confirmed that about 2,300 medical services will be provided to the beneficiaries of the health insurance system in Luxor through 7 hospitals, 59 centers and health care units, consistent with the best international standards of quality and accreditation.
He explained that about 63% of Luxor residents have already registered their data to join the new system.
