Brazilian defender Lyanco was the first player to arrive at training for Clube Atlético Mineiro on Monday, just hours after the chaotic final of the Campeonato Mineiro against Cruzeiro Esporte Clube.

Lyanco appeared with visible injuries on his face following the violent clashes that erupted during the match, which ended in a heated mass brawl involving players from both sides.

The Mineiro derby, played in Belo Horizonte, saw Cruzeiro secure a 1–0 victory over Atlético Mineiro before the closing moments spiraled into chaos.

The confrontation began deep into stoppage time when Cruzeiro winger Christian collided with Atlético Mineiro goalkeeper Everson while chasing a loose ball.

The incident quickly escalated into a large-scale brawl involving players and members of both coaching staffs.

Punches and kicks were exchanged on the pitch before security personnel stepped in to restore order.

In one of the most extraordinary conclusions to a match in recent Brazilian football, the referee issued 23 red cards after the game, 12 to Cruzeiro players and 11 to Atlético Mineiro.

Despite the heated scenes from the final, Lyanco reported to Atlético Mineiro’s training session early the following morning, becoming the first player on the field as the team began preparations for the upcoming phase of the season.

The Mineiro derby between Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro is widely regarded as one of the fiercest rivalries in Brazilian football, but the 2026 final of the Campeonato Mineiro will be remembered as one of the most controversial and dramatic endings in the competition’s history.
