The Korean Cultural Center has launched the 2026 Korea Culture Caravan in the historic city of Luxor, marking the start of a year-long cultural journey across Egypt aimed at deepening people-to-people ties between Egypt and South Korea.

The inaugural event was held at the Misr Public Library in Luxor, set against the backdrop of the city’s ancient temples and distinctive cultural landscape. Designed as a traveling platform for cultural exchange, the Korea Culture Caravan brought together Korean tradition and modern innovation in an interactive, educational format open to visitors of all ages.

Throughout the day, attendees took part in a wide range of hands-on activities and exhibitions. These included lantern-making and bracelet workshops, introductory Korean language sessions, an exhibition of traditional Korean musical instruments, a curated photo gallery, and an immersive virtual reality experience. The programme also featured a screening of the Korean film Exit, offering audiences a glimpse into contemporary Korean cinema.

Visitors were also invited to engage directly with Korean heritage through traditional games and by trying on the Hanbok, Korea’s national costume. These experiences allowed participants to interact closely with Korean culture, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening cultural connections between the two countries.

Adding symbolic significance to the event, the launch coincided with preparations for Seollal, the Korean Lunar New Year, which falls on February 17 this year. Seollal is traditionally associated with family reunions, renewal, and hope, themes that resonated with the spirit of cultural dialogue promoted by the caravan.

The Korea Culture Caravan is set to continue its tour across several Egyptian cities throughout 2026, reinforcing cultural exchange, expanding public engagement, and contributing to the steady growth of bilateral relations between Egypt and South Korea as both nations look toward closer cooperation in the years ahead.
