The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, received the Lonely Planet Magazine's English award, designating Egypt as the top tourist destination for 2023 in its global destinations list, according to a survey conducted by the magazine.
This announcement was made during the ministry's participation in the 44th edition of the World Travel Market (WTM2023) in London, which took place from November 6 to 8 in the British capital.
During the event, Amr El-Qadi, the CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, held a meeting with representatives of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority to discuss enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Bahrain in the field of tourism.
They emphasized the significance of bilateral tourism between the two countries and agreed to organize joint tourism programs to increase tourist traffic from major tourism markets.
The meeting also addressed the signing of several tripartite agreements in collaboration with representatives of the Egyptian private sector, including tourism companies and hotel facilities.
These agreements aim to support tourism programs offered by them, with the goal of attracting more tourists and increasing the number of tourist nights.
Furthermore, the CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board met with some of the leading organizers of trips in the British market and various European markets, as well as officials from several international airlines.
The discussions highlighted the developments in tourist arrivals from different tourism markets to Egypt. Additionally, the strategy of the board for future cooperation with industry partners abroad, including tour organizers and airlines, was presented.
They also emphasized the allocation of new incentives to expand various promotional activities to further promote Egypt's tourist destination in various tourism markets.
The meetings provided an opportunity to reassure partners about the stability of the situation in Egypt and to discuss the developments in the tourism industry in Egypt, especially due to the ongoing events in the region and the measures taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in response to these events.
