Spanish newspapers reported Saturday that Liverpool's star Sadio Mane would be set for a three-week stint on the sidelines with an apparent hamstring injury.

The Spanish newspaper "AS" said that Senegal's international would miss Liverpool's encounters against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup and West Ham, Southampton, and Norwich City in the Premier League.

"Mane will miss tomorrow's FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town plus Liverpool's Premier League clashes against West Ham, Southampton, and Norwich," the Spanish newspaper reported.

It also noted that the 27-year-old Senegalese star would return to the Reds' squad against Atlético Madrid on February, 18 in the first leg of the Uefa Champions League last sixteen.

"He should be available for the first leg of the Champions League Last 16 tie against Atlético Madrid on 18 February," AS concluded.

Earlier this month, Mane was named African Footballer of the Year for the first time in his history.

The Senegalese beat fellow nominees, his Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, at the Confederation of African Football’s awards ceremony in Hurghada, Egypt.

The ceremony took place in the presence of FIFA president Gianni Infantino, CAF President Ahmad Ahmad and a number of African and international football legends.

The Senegal winger edged the two nominees after a vote decided by head coaches, technical directors and captains of senior national teams from CAF member associations.
